Sandra M. Winter
Ms. Winter received her 5-year undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati in Design and Merchandising in 1990. She began her first career in the San Francisco Bay Area where she worked for Jessica McClintock and North Face as an Assistant Contract Manager of Asian manufacturing and as a Contract Manager of domestic manufacturing respectively. She also worked in product design and project management in the apparel and medical soft goods industries before the effects of NAFTA saturated the U.S. markets.
Before returning to university, Ms. Winter worked for several years in the commercial real estate and multi-family housing industries in Raleigh, NC. She worked for both Grubb & Ellis|Vector and Drucker & Falk where she developed marketing materials for commercial real estate proposals and in worked property management and event planning.
Ms. Winter had over 12 years of business experience before entering the field of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP). Having received speech therapy and reading intervention services herself as a child, Ms. Winter always felt an affinity for those struggling with communication and academics. She volunteered with the Wake Literacy Council in Raleigh, NC where she worked with adults who had not acquired literacy in childhood.
Ms. Winter completed her undergraduate coursework in SLP at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the North Carolina State University. She graduated with her Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Arizona and returned to her home state of Ohio. She has worked in private practice and has owned her own private practice where she has provided services in public and charter schools, home health, head start centers, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient clinical settings. She has worked with both pediatric and adult populations with speech, language, and swallowing disorders having a variety of etiologies.
Currently, Ms. Winter is working as an SLP in a public elementary school. She holds her license to practice from the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and holds her Ohio Department of Education Professional License to provide speech therapy services in the schools. Ms. Winter also holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
